I voted to ban abortion
…before I realized what could happen to me. Would I be the exception to the rule?
A Texas judge ruled Thursday that a pregnant woman who sued the state seeking a court-ordered abortion can legally terminate her pregnancy…Cox’s baby was diagnosed with trisomy 18 and is not expected to live more than a few days outside the womb, according to the suit.
After the ruling, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton warned Cox’s physician she could still face civil and criminal penalties at some point should she perform the court-ordered procedure.
I’m a mother. I believe in God. I’ve always been, to some extent, conservative. I’m probably more conservative than you. And still, I find this outrageous.
There are so many issues the people writing abortion bans do not even consider, mainly because they don’t care; they see this woman and her child as collateral damage. Luckily, the voters have started thinking about it, especially as women get more comfortable sharing their stories. What does it mean to ban all abortions, but write in an “exception” for medical reasons? It means you, the woman carrying a baby with no chance of survival outside the womb, will have to file a court case and get permission from a judge if you don’t want to carry to term.
